The boys are back at home for the first time in six weeks. It’s Military Appreciation Weekend. You can trade another school’s shirt for a free Charger T-shirt. Predators’ PA announcer Paul McCann (Saturday) and another troupe from Nashville are coming down. So what else do you need? Come see the Chargers take on America’s brightest young hockey talent at the VBC! Friday night at 7. Saturday night at 7. If for whatever reason you can’t make it, there’s live video, live stats, and Twitter updates. But make it anyway!

Catching the Game: at Nebraska-Omaha, 11/23-24
Finally! The last of six straight road weekends! The final stop is against a club that UAH has given fits: Nebraska-Omaha. The Chargers stunned the Mavericks with a win in Nashville last season and an overtime victory in Omaha the season before. UNO is ranked 15th in the latest USCHO.com poll. Watch tonight at 7:30 and tomorrow at 7 on America One (PPV), listen on 1180 AM in Omaha, or follow the game with live stats or UAH Hockey on Twitter.
Catching the Game: at Lake Superior State, 11/16-17
The boys hit the road for the five straight weekend (just one more to go!), this time to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., to face Lake Superior State. The puck drops at 6:35 CT tonight and 6:05 CT tomorrow night. You can listen online or watch on America One (PPV). There doesn’t seem to be true live stats from LSSU (outside of a CCHA scoreboard), so follow along with us on Twitter instead. Let’s go Chargers!
Catching the Game: at Northeastern, 11/10-11
Tonight and tomorrow, the Chargers face Northeastern University in Boston in the fourth of six straight weekends on the road. It’s the first ever meeting between the Chargers and the Huskies, who are winless in their last five games. Both games are at 6 p.m. CT, with live stats, live audio, and live video available. LET’S GO CHARGERS!
Catching the Game: at St. Lawrence 11/2-3
The Chargers’ next stop this weekend is in Canton, N.Y., to take on St. Lawrence University of the ECAC. The Saints (3-1) are ranked No. 16 in the latest USCHO.com poll. Catch the games tonight and Saturday night at 6 CT with live stats, live tweeting, live audio, or live video (PPV).
Catching the game: @Bentley, 10/26; @AIC, 10/27
The Chargers will be in Massachusetts this weekend for a two-game swing against Atlantic Hockey opponents. We’re hoping they also get out of there before Hurricane Sandy arrives. Stay dry, boys.
Friday at Bentley (1-1), 6 p.m. CT: Bentley is a team on the rise in AHA after several years of mixed results in their league over the past several seasons. So far they have a blowout against Sacred Heart at home and a loss at Michigan.
Saturday at American International (1-2), 6 p.m. CT: There hasn’t really been much to say about AIC over the years: The Jackets haven’t had a winning season since 1993-94, when they were a Division II program. AIC split two overtime games at Penn State and lost 6-2 at home to Holy Cross.
For what it’s worth, USCHO is picking against us. Meh.
Catching the Game: UAH v. Mankato — Saturday, October 13th, 2012
Holy moly, 5106 people at the rink last night. While I’m writing my recap, I want y’all to be ready for tonight if you’re not at the rink:
- Live Stats
- Live Video (Pay-per-view: $8 per game, $30 for a 30-day pass, $75 for a season pass with home and away games)
- Live Audio (Mankato feed)
The live audio feed was wonky for Mac users, but people on Twitter found a better one. I retweeted it, but I wasn’t in a position to update last night’s CtG post while I was at the rink. Speaking of that, follow us on Twitter @uahhockey; if you don’t do Twitter, just pull the page up and you’ll see our tweets in real-time on the Web without having to sign up for an account. @UAHChargers will update the game as well; they’re on press row and have full access to game scoring. We tweet more, though.
I made the command decision last night to try to tweet less about penalties and such because you already have live stats with you. I’m going to try to put a little meat on the bones of that. I’m aware that some of you don’t have access to live stats and are following the game solely via Twitter (most likely on your phone), but I can sometimes get backlogged trying to tweet about things that I don’t get to watch the game so I can tell you things about what’s going on.
Catching the Game: UAH v. Mankato—Friday, October 12th, 2012
So it’s GAMEDAY! We’ve told you what to expect. We’ve told you why you should be here. We’ve told you that tickets to the game are free. We’ve done all we can to make a case for why you should be there.
But you may not be able to be there. You may not live in Huntsville. You may be stuck working on console at the Huntsville Operations Support Center, telling astronauts how to run an experiment on the International Space Station. You may be sick. But you still want to follow the game.
Here’s how.
- Live Stats
- Live Video (Pay-per-view: $8 per game, $30 for a 30-day pass, $75 for a season pass with home and away games)
- Live Audio (Mankato feed)
There’s also Twitter, where yours truly will make wiseass comments in between giving scoring updates. Follow us @uahhockey; if you don’t do Twitter, just pull the page up and you’ll see our tweets in real-time on the Web without having to sign up for an account. @UAHChargers will update the game as well; they’re on press row and have full access to game scoring.
